Jack Scharr is president of Fine Art Ltd. He serves as Chairman of the American Sport Art Museum and Archives International Advisory Board, as a trustee for the United States Sports Academy, on the Board of Directors for Chesterfield Arts and the Civic Entrepreneurs Organization in St. Louis. Scharr graduated from the University of Missouri with a degree in Business Administration with a major in marketing. After working as manager and marketing director for several major corporations, Scharr joined his marketing base with his love of fine art to form Fine Art Ltd. In addition to commissioning artwork for the US Olympic Games since 1987, Scharr is currently working on the 2008 Olympic Games in Beijing for the United States Olympic Committee. Scharr's contacts and knowledge of the art market have given him the ability to reach almost any artist in the world.
Whether a major commission is involved or simply purchasing and organizing a particular collection of art (for corporate, museum or private use), very few people in the world have the experience and insight into the art world that Jack Scharr has. Since 1981, Jack has commissioned several hundred works of art while working with hundreds of artists from across the globe.
For the last 10 years, he has worked with the Civic Entrepreneur's Organization in St. Louis to head up a program to purchase art to be on tour and viewed by inner-city schools to promote the arts in the educational system. In 2002, with Fine Art Ltd., Scharr operated a gallery for Olympic Aid to raise money to help children throughout the world to become educated in health as well as sport and to encourage their participation in sport. In March of 2000, Scharr was presented with the €œArcale award in Salamanca, Spain. This award, one of the most coveted international art awards, was given to him for his contribution to society through wide diffusion, promotion and editions of many works of art and prints.
